What is the new zoning?

National park territories are divided into 4 nature conservation zones in accordance with the conservation objectives and condition of the ecosystems, as follows:

a) A natural zone shall be specified in coherent areas with prevailing natural ecosystems, with the aim to preserve and allow in them undisturbed development of natural processes;

b) A near-natural zone shall be specified in areas with prevailing ecosystems partially modified by humans, with the aim to achieve a condition corresponding to natural ecosystems;

c) A zone of concentrated nature conservation shall be specified in areas with prevailing ecosystems significantly modified by humans, with the aim to preserve or gradually improve the condition of the ecosystems, significant in terms of biological diversity, whose existence is conditioned by permanent human activity or regeneration of near-natural ecosystems;

d) A cultivated landscape zone shall be specified in built-up areas and developable areas of municipalities intended for their sustainable development and in areas with prevailing ecosystems modified by humans intended for permanent utilisation by humans.

TRANQUILLITY AREAS

The Šumava National Park Tranquillity Areas are measures to regulate movement of visitors within the National Park territory. This regulation is especially necessary in relation to the protection of rare species of fauna and in areas where they permanently live, nest, breed, and winter, that is, where they are the most sensitive to human-induced disturbance.
