Introductory provisions

Visitor rules are generally binding legal regulations, setting out the conditions for tourism, sporting and recreational activities of visitors to the territory of the Šumava National Park (hereinafter referred to as the "National Park").

Visitor rules are specifically issued in order to protect the National Park from any tourist, sporting or recreational interference. The rules reserve specific areas for those activities which are prohibited from the areas specified by § 16 of the Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection Act. This reservation may be made subject to time or other circumstances as specified in this regulation.

Visitor rules apply to all visitors to the National Park or to those working in the area, unless stipulated otherwise.

Border markings for the National Park and National Park I. zones:

The borders of the National Park are identified by signboards showing a large national emblem of the Czech Republic, located at access roads and other suitable locations on the borders of the territory.
To identify the borders of the National Park I. Zone, "National Park I. Zone" signboards in combination with a striped sign for the boundaries are used.
The striped sign for the boundaries is placed on the boundary posts, which show two 5 cm wide red stripes with a 5 cm gap in between. The upper stripe runs around the post perimeter, the lower stripe length corresponds with the section of unprotected territory. The posts are located at the junctions of the borders of the National Park I. Zone. Similar signs are located on the border trees.
